APOLLO 9 Flown Kapton 9/16" x 5/8" Foil Display
Flown Foils Are From the Jerald B. Wilken Space Collection, Limited Edition of 10
The acrylic display features a presentation on both sides and measures 4” x 6” x 5/8” thick. It is bonded at the edges sandwiching the graphic, this is a new technique not using magnets or plastic screws to hold it together but there are imperfections in the bonding which produces small bubbles in the joint
APOLLO 9 Flown Kapton Foil Display Includes: 2 Layer Piece of Flown Kapton Foil 5/8"x 9/16" Approximately from Command Module CM/104 Gumdrop in custom acrylic display 4" X 6" X 11/16" Thick (2 layer Kapton foil has brilliant golden metallic adhesive side and splendid silver reflective side with heat stress gold streaks.
A Certification of Authenticity from the Wilken family will accompany item.
Flown Foils are guaranteed genuine and collected by Jerald B. Wilken and offered by the Wilken Family. Jerry Wilken worked for Space Division of NORTH AMERICAN ROCKWELL CORP. Starting in 1962 as an Associate Test Engineer and from 1967 to 1969 was assigned as test conductor for Apollo Post Flight Operations. Certified Limited Edition Foil Displays designed and created by hand by Robert Wilken: I designed the front graphic using NASA photos and a picture my father took of a North American Rockwell Apollo 9 display sign. The back is a picture of outer space, an outline of the CSM and NASA pictures I removed the backgrounds from.
