Buzz Aldrin is seen in this Neil Armstrong photo saluting the first lunar flag at Tranquility Base, July 20, 1969. The flag, although held straight by a horizontal crossbar, it is still crumpled from cold, 'hard vacuum' stowage in a lander compartment. The remarkable and reliable lunar lander itself is at left.
