Gemini 8 piloted by Neil Armstrong and David Scott docked with an unmanned target satellite for the first time in space. Due to problems during the docking the crew didn't perform the planned EVA and had to abort the mission.

This presentation bears a fragment of the flown Gemini 8 heatshield and comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity plus a fact sheet about Gemini 8.

The source of this heatshield fragment was a larger block of heatshield encased into lucite as a presentation piece given to VIP's and NASA workers as recognition for their work in the space program.
