Discovery Arrives at the Pad
It was a midnight rollout for Space Shuttle Discovery. The spacecraft arrived at Kennedy Space Center's Launch Pad 39A early Saturday morning. NASA is planning to to launch Discovery for the STS-124 mission May 31. Astronaut Mark Kelly will command the mission to deliver new Japanese components to the International Space Station.
The STS-124 mission is the second of three flights that will launch components to complete the Kibo laboratory. The mission includes two spacewalks to install the new lab and its dedicated robotic arm. The lab's logistics module, which was installed in a temporary location during a previous shuttle mission, will be attached to the new lab.
